Dr. Toa Charm

Dr. Toa Charm has over 30 years of management, marketing, entrepreneurship, consulting and executive education experience in innovation and technology industry. He held senior management positions in leading multinational, Hong Kong and mainland enterprises including Cyberport, HSBC, IBM, Oracle, Kingdee and Jardine Pacific. Dr. Charm specializes in FinTech, AI/Big Data, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Digital Strategy, Leadership and Transformation.

Dr. Charm is currently an associate professor in the CUHK Business School where he cultivates the next generation of digital leaders and entrepreneurs. He has been actively cultivating the startups ecosystem in Hong Kong and Asia. Dr. Charm chairs and advises a few elite AI/Big Data, FinTech and eCommerce start-ups in Asia. He is the Chairman of OpenCertHub – a globally recognized platform to authenticate AI/Big Data talents in open sources environment. Dr. Charm actively serves the communities and industries in Asia through participating in professional and business associations. He is a popular speaker in local and international conferences and hosts digital-related programmes on major media, such as TVB, RTHK, Metro Finance.

Phil Chen

Phil heads up the EXODUS project at HTC, the world’s first cryptophone device built for the decentralized web, or Web 3.0. Phil is also General Partner at Proof of Capital, a public blockchain venture fund. Phil joined HTC in 2007 as a product manager, building some of the first ever android phones and launching the Facebook phone, the only phone co-branded with a social media internet company that also became the QQ/Tencent and Weibo phone in China.  Phil also founded the Vive VR project at HTC and founded Presence Capital, a venture fund specializing in VR/AR startups. In 2015, Phil also joined Horizons Ventures (Li Ka-shing’s fund) as an Advisor where he served as board director/observer for fifteen companies globally including Improbable, Sentient, Soul Machines, Scopely, Baobab VR, 88 Rising, Amper, Kneron, Smash gg and Blue Vision Labs.

Chia Hock-Lai

Chia Hock Lai is the CEO of Switchnovate, a FinTech consultancy firm that provides financial blockchain solutions, and has close to 2 decades of experience in the financial and technology industry. He has previously worked in organisations like Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech) and NTUC Income. He is also an alumnus of the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

Besides being the founding president of the Singapore FinTech Association and chairman of the Token Economy Association, he is also a Fellow of the Singapore University of Social Science, member of the Banking & Finance and Fund Industry panel of Nanyang Polytechnic, member of the Technology sub-group under the IBF Technology & Operations (T&O) Industry Workgroup, and advisor to start-ups.

Dr. Clifford K. Choi, DC

Dr. Clifford K. Choi, DC is a crypto investor and one of the Directors of the Bitcoin Association of Hong Kong. The Bitcoin Association of Hong Kong (BAHK) has been very influential in the historical development of the Bitcoin ecosystem and the crypto industry as a whole, with the Hong Kong teams being particularly influential given the strategic connections to Bitcoin miners and seed investors. He is one of the early organizers of the BAHK and Cardano meetups over the years and promoter of Healthcare Blockchains. He is a former Help desk technician at Microsoft Redmond (1996-1998) and has been an early-adopter since.

Hugh Chow

Hugh Chow has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of ASTRI, effective 15 January 2018. A veteran of nearly 25 years in the technology landscape, Mr Chow has extensive experience of executive and engineering management holding senior roles in private and public companies.

A Hong Kong native, Mr Chow started his professional career in Canada in 1993. He gained rich international experience particularly in North America and in Greater China. Mr Chow has vast experience, leadership strength and track record in general management, covering finance, operations and R&D roles in start-ups as well as large organisations in the technology sector.

Having served in a number of senior engineering and management positions for several years, he co-founded ViXS Systems Inc. in 2001, where he served as Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, Interim President and CEO. He led the expansion of ViXS into the US, Europe and Asia, including the establishment of an R&D centre in Hong Kong Science Park in 2007, and took the company public in 2013. In late 2016, he co-founded Pool Global Partners Inc., a venture capital investment firm specialising in artificial intelligence, big data and digital health, etc., and served as the Managing Partner.

Mr Chow is an inventor for more than 10 US patents. He attained Hong Kong Canada Business Achievement Award in 2014 and the ACCE International Business Entrepreneur Award in 2007.

Mr Chow holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hong Kong, and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado in the United States. Mr Chow is also a Transport Canada licensed pilot, a marathoner and an Ironman triathlete.

Kenneth Choy

Kenneth Choy is a consultant and head of Technology Transactions practice of Nixon Peabody CWL in Hong Kong. His practice spanning more than 30 years in the U.S. and Asia has evolved into a combination of traditional IP, technology, transactional and emerging company practices. Clients include startups, emerging companies, publicly traded companies, family offices and investment funds. Having served as general counsel and co-founder of an international technology company, he understands clients’ concerns include commercial as well as legal issues. He has been admitted to practice law at New York, California, and Hong Kong.

Matt Chwierut

Matt Chwierut is a co-founder at Smith + Crown and leads both the research and cryptoeconomic design practice areas. He has worked at a range of think tanks and consulting groups evaluating emerging technologies, and has been tracking blockchain technology since 2013. He is a Research Affiliate at Institute for the Future, a Fellow at the Singapore Institute of Management, and holds degrees from UC Berkeley and Stanford University.

Charles d’Haussy

Charles d’Haussy (夏多希) is a Director at ConsenSys, a leading global blockchain company and venture development studio. Prior to joining Consensys, Charles was the Head of FinTech at Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK), the department of the Hong Kong SAR Government responsible for Foreign Direct Investment.

Charles has 13 years of experience in the Hong Kong private sector, having set up his company and holding a number of entrepreneurial and management roles. Before joining InvestHK, Charles was the head of sales and business development with a leading Hong Kong online broker and robo-adviser.

Charles held SFC licenses 1 and 4, studied in France at Rennes International Business school and Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou, China. He is certified on BlockChain business strategy from Be9 London (cohort #1), received the CPT Star bronze 2016 award from HKSI and pursues training on machine learning and Artificial Intelligence.

Shawn Dehpanah

Shawn Dehpanah is Executive Vice President of Corporate Innovation at Plug and Play. Mr. Dehpanah is a highly accomplished, agile Market Strategy Executive, and take-charge leader who quickly overcomes profit and growth challenges with over 25 years of experience by leveraging entrepreneurial drive and market acumen for success in new market ventures and tech firms. He started his career in Silicon Valley as a software engineer before transitioning to sales, marketing, and business development roles at both startups and firmly established multinational companies (e.g. Samsung Semiconductor, Hitachi, Panasonic, Alta Vista, etc.) With more than 20 years of overseas working experience, he has a strong understanding of technology & innovation ecosystems in Asia Pacific, EMEA, and South America regions. Mr. Dehpanah received his bachelor’s degree in Math and Computer Science from the University of California, San Jose.
